Rapid Washer

I had several comments about the Rapid Washer that I mentioned in my previous post.  I guess what first caught my eye about this antique, yet handy tool, is that I have my great-great grandmothers hand washer.  It is in beautiful condition and I could probably use it, but for the sake of preserving a treasured keep-sake, it will just be used as display.  I wish I could take a picture of it, but while we are in the process of moving, it is in storage.  However, I do have a picture (compliments of Lehmans) of a "modern" one.

When I checked the site (Lehmans), they call the model above the "Breathing Hand Washer", and the one pictured below a "Rapid Laundry Washer".  I personally like the metal one better.  If my grandmother's can withstand the test of time then hopefully so will this one.

Essentially this is a plunger for clothing.  It forces water through the clothes to flush out any dirt.  If your items have tough stains you may need to soak or scrub that spot by hand.  This, of course, is the perfect chore for bored children who complain that they have nothing to do.

  1. It's good to preserve great great grandma's hand washer, nothing wrong with displaying it.

I do have picture #1, I didn't know about the metal one. Wont it rust eventually?

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I love hearing from my readers.
