Chicks and Fruit

I just couldn't take it anymore, this lack of chickens thing.  I enjoyed my last flock, and since the move I have missed having my feathered, egg laying friends around.  Luckily for me our small town farm supply store is having chick days, so I went in and ordered 10 Barred Rock pullets.  While I was there, I noticed a flyer that our small town floral shop was placing orders for trees, shrubs, and other outdoor plants, so my next stop was the flower shop.  There I ordered rhubarb and strawberry plants.  Even though the population of our small town is less than 800, we are so blessed to have a grocery store, hardware/ranch supply store, flower shop, fabric shop, antiques shop, several restaurants, two gas stations, a YMCA, and a movie rental.  I, like many others in the community, rarely have to leave town to go shopping. If Edgemont doesn't have what I need, then I head over to Hot Springs or Custer, both of which are less than 2,000 people.  Our nearest large retail store is over an hour and a half away.  It's wonderful.

  1. I looove small towns. Our population is a little over 2000 with a down town similar to yours. We have all the things you do except a YMCA but, we do have a Curves, Dollar General and Family Dollar too... Yeehaw! I especially love our little coffee shop called Boundary Waters with all it's Moose decor with good coffees and teas.

I would totally miss my chickens, they are sooo entertaining.
