Kitchen/ Dining Room - new closet

Finally we have some visual progress on the house remodel!  This past week we Nathan has been updating electrical and plumbing, and while that is an important step, it's hard to actually see the work.   Since we plan to use a wood cook stove for most of our winter heating and cooking, and the existing chimney pipe was locating in the middle of the room, we had to do some improvising.
This is a closet in the making, and the wall that our stove will sit against.  Last weekend we ordered some stone which will provide a non-combustible surface for the cook stove, a back splash for the counters, and a decorative wall for the gas fireplace (as seen in the right on the picture below).

The closet is now sheet-rocked and waiting for some mudding and taping.  The kitchen and bathroom floors have been purchased and are waiting in the shop to be installed, along with some brave paint choices, and new lights.  This weekend looks to be busy for us.

  1. First of all, congratulations on your own domain name! So much easier to remember, isn't it?

I could so relate to this post. I love your plans and progress so far. You are so right about "visual" progress. It is such a moral booster!
