It was a good night for Pearl and I. She has been coming to the barn on a schedule, but seems very wary of me when she comes in to eat. If I even take a step towards her she bolts. In an effort to outsmart and out-stubborn her, I pulled out the big guns. I went into the feed store and asked for their best tasting cow treats. She never stood a chance. When she came in to eat her alfalfa, I tossed her a couple cakes (treats). As she shoved her calf out of the way for one I knew I had won, hehehe.
Once I had her hooked on the cake, I started tossing them closer to me. She would have to come close to get her treat. Soon enough she was at the fence eating out of my hand. I wanted to try and give her a pet, but one thing at a time.
Today was a small victory, and one day closer to a gentle family cow. God is good.
