Last Minute Gifts

It always seems that no matter how much I prepare for holiday shopping, there is always that one person that I need an extra present for.  Here are two last munute gifts that I came up with.

Soup in a Jar

In a pint jar, layer:
beef bullion or beef powder (enough to make 6 cups of broth)
1/2 cup Quick cooking barley
1/3 cup dried onion
1/3 cup freeze dried celery
1/2 tsp. garlic granules
dried mushrooms (fill to the top)
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
Instructions:  Add contents of jar to 6 six cups water.  Simmer 15 to 20 minutes.  Makes about 7 cups.
1/2 tsp. dried marjoram
Flower Dish Scrubbie
This is my first flower dish cloth.  I have a pile of square ones that would make nice gifts, but I really like the look of this.

  1. Hi...Merry Christmas!
What type of yarn did you use for the dish cloth? I love it!

  2. Very clever, I love these ideas!

  3. I think I could make that dishcloth. Can you share the pattern? Of course, I would rather fairies make it for me since cataracts and sore fingers, both age-related, make crocheting hard to do.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I love hearing from my readers.
