If it feels like you haven't seen a post from me in forever that's because I have been MIA. Well, action online... not at the homestead.
Let's get caught up.
Pearl had a beautiful little bull calf two weeks ago.
Meet Timon (I thought it would go perfect with Pumba... Hakuna Matata)
Pearl and I have been settling into a nice milking routine. I haven't yet separated her from the calf, so I'm not getting as much as I would like. All in good time, why rush.
With all this rain the garden has exploded.

I have been harvesting beans, cucumbers, peas, peppers, and a few tomatoes. My onions and garlic were a total bust.
The wood chips have kept all weeds down and have helped retain water. This garden has been my most fruitful and least labor intensive garden so far. I left for a week and came back to NO WEEDS! We are planning to expand the garden this fall.
In other homestead news, we finally hayed our pastures! Post coming soon.
